4 large Apples, peeled — cored and
cut up
1 cup Apple cider
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1/4 cup Hard red cinnamon candies
In a 2 quart pan, cook sliced apples and cider over medium heat, stirring
ccasionally, until apples reach the consistency of applesauce. Remove
mixture from heat and push through a fine colander before returning to pan
and adding brown sugar and cinnamon candies. Continue cooking over medium
heat, stirring often, until very thick. When a bit is dropped on a glass
plate and it holds its shape, the apple butter is done. Pour cooled apple
butter into a glass container and refrigerate. YIELD: 2 cups
NOTES : Badams report: made this recipe and found it to be very tasty,
easy to make, very little cleanup. Will be yummy on biscuits and toast and maybe just all by itself, a spicy, thick applesauce. Thanks to Nancy Berry for sharing it. 🙂
