croustades

15 slices white bread from a sliced loaf 100g butter

100g blue cheese

stilton or roquefort

To finish:

50g melted butter

2 tsp caraway seeds

Cut the crusts from the bread.

Roll each slice with a rolling pin to flatten. cream the butter and the crumbled cheese together and spread this mixture over the bread slices.

Roll up each slice tightly.

Cut each roll in half.

Grease the small roasting tin.

Pack in the bread rolls tightly about 6 rolls wide by 5 rolls deep with the ends of the slices underneath.

Brush the rolls with the melted butter. Sprinkle on the caraway seeds.

Hang the roasting tin on the top runners of the roasting ovenfor about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Serve warm.

These easy to make nibbles are perfect for predinner drinks or as a standup starter. Prepare ahead and bake as needed.
