112g margarine
168g black treacle
56g golden syrup
125ml milk
2eggs lightly beaten
224g plain flour sieved
56gcaster sugar
l1tspmixed spice
2tspground ginger
1tspbicarbonate of soda
Method
1 Place margarine treacle and syrup into a saucepan and gently heat do not boll
2 Remove from the heat and add the milk
3 Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes then add the beaten eggs
4 Sieve the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl then add the treacle mixture and beat well together
5 Pour into a prepared square tin 7in/178mm and bake in a preheated oven
