2 cups flour — unsifted
1/2 cup cocoa powder — unsweetened
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter — softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together. Cream butter; add sugar slowly
and beat 2 minutes. Add vanilla, then flour in two batches. Mix until just
blended. Form into a flat rectangle, wrap with Plastic wrap, chill. Cut off
1/4 at a time to work with. Let soften a little. Pound with rolling pin.
Roll 1/3″ thick on floured board, cut and put 2″ apart on parchment lined
baking sheet. Bake at 325
